Repairs and wiring from a hot water electrician in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and North Shore.

Many hot water faults are electrical: an element, a thermostat or the circuit itself. We find the cause and fix it safely.
Electric storage hot water wired, repaired and maintained.
Electrical connections for efficient heat pump systems.
Faulty elements, thermostats and tripping circuits fixed.
Off-peak circuits, timers and controls checked and repaired.
Hot water work is shared between two trades. A licensed plumber looks after the water side, such as the tank, valves and pipes, while a licensed electrician looks after the power that heats it. When an electric or heat pump system stops working, the cause is often electrical.
The most common electrical faults are:
Storage systems need to keep water at 60°C or more to control bacteria, so a thermostat that has failed or is set too low should be fixed promptly. When a new system goes in, the electrical connection must be made by a licensed electrician. We test the circuit, make the connection and check that everything heats as it should, for both electric and heat pump systems.
Elements, thermostats and circuits are electrical work, and in NSW they need a licensed electrician.
A working thermostat keeps stored water hot enough to control bacteria.
Moving on from an old electric tank? We make sure the circuit and wiring suit your new system.
We test the circuit, the element and the thermostat to find the real fault, not just reset it.
Many faults are fixed with a new element or thermostat, so the whole unit may not need replacing.
We check off-peak circuits and controls, so your water heats when it's meant to.

Yes, the electrical side. A licensed electrician repairs and replaces elements and thermostats, finds faults in the circuit and connects the power to new electric and heat pump systems. The water side, including the tank, valves and pipework, is plumbing work. Knowing which trade you need first saves time, and we’re happy to help you work it out.
Check your switchboard first. If a safety switch or the hot water circuit breaker has tripped, the heater has no power. Try resetting it once; if it trips again, there’s a fault and you should call an electrician. If you’re on off-peak, remember the water only heats at certain times, so heavy use can empty the tank until it reheats.
The most common causes are a failed heating element, a faulty thermostat, a tripped over-temperature cut-out or a problem with the circuit or off-peak control. A leaking tank is a different story and usually means the unit needs replacing. We test each part to find the fault and tell you whether a repair makes sense.
Off-peak, or controlled load, hot water runs on its own circuit that is switched on at set times, usually overnight. The tank heats while demand on the network is low and stores the hot water for the next day. If your water is lukewarm in the morning, the control, the circuit or the element may be at fault, and we can test all three.
Any licensed electrician can make the electrical connection for a heat pump hot water system, but the unit itself is installed by a licensed plumber, because it connects to your water supply. We handle the electrical side: checking the circuit suits the new system, making the connection and testing it, so it runs safely from day one.
